Free Comic Book Day At Fully Booked 2010!

Yesterday, I visited my local bookstore called Fully Booked to immerse myself in some comic book goodness with their annual Free Comic Book Day event! This comes a few weeks after the official FCBD, and it gives many readers a chance to dip their hands into the hobby by getting a comic book absolutely free. That's right! Absolutely FREE, and all you have to do is visit the store, line up, and choose from a number of titles on display and ripe for the picking!

I attended the event with my old pal and fellow hobby friend Mark, who also runs his own personal blog. The scorching heat outside was enough to get anyone trickling with sweat to shealter, but we decided to brave the road and make our way to Bonifacio High Street. From experience, whenever Free Comic Book Day happens, the line outside Fully Booked in the morning stretches all the way to nearby restaurants, so I took a chance and decided to make a lunch time visit instead.

Luckily, Mark and I made it without any crowd to worry about. The line was relatively light, and there were tons of free comic books still available! The accompanying video here says it all!

Once we lined up and chose our books, FCBD was practically in the bag, but that there were other offers being given on that day as well! As part of the celebration, the bookstore was offering 20% discounts on their graphic novels, manga, and other comic book related items! Not ones to hesitate on great deals like that, Mark and I bolted for the graphic novel section in the basement to check out the stuff they had! All the latest and greatest books from Marvel, DC, Independents, and Japanese comic publishers were there, and you could literally stay for hours around and see if any of your favorites were around.After browsing through, I finally came up with some Iron Man related titles, and soon enough, my bag was heavy and full of comic goodness to bring home and read!

Overall, the experience was exhilarating and awesome, and I even got to bump into some familiar faces during the event itself. Until next year, that does it for Free Comic Book Day 2010!

Super Street Fighter IV Sessions: Episode 1

My good friend Billy and I constantly wage a battle of supremacy and sport in the fighting game scene, and once Capcom's Super Street Fighter IV hit consoles everywhere, you can just imagine our excitement and anticipation to duke it out with one another. That finally took place on the first weekend of May, and rather than hold just a regular match, I decided to record and post what will hopefully be the first of many videos showcasing our fights, uninterrupted and absolutely straightforward. Before I get to the first session, here's an intro video we recorded, giving our thoughts on playing SSFIV:

The Iron Man "Mark V" Suit Action Figure!

Catching up on the updates, I just wanted to share my latest fanboy acquisition!

AWESOME!!!

Oh yes, this baby looks awesome alright. If you're not familiar with this figure at all, then what you're looking at here is the Mark V "Suitcase" Armor that Tony Stark used to fend off Whiplash during the Monaco race track scene in Iron Man 2! I know I'm not alone when I say this, but this is my favorite among all the armors that have appeared in the sequel (yes, including War Machine), and it's a homage to two classic suits used by Shellhead in the comics, namely the original classic Red & Gold suit, and the Silver Centurion armor, which the Mark V takes its colors from. I'm itching right now to open and display it eventually, but that will come in time after I finish up the video review for this particular. In the meantime, here's a video preview to look at:

Site Soft Opening!

It's May already and work is still in progress, but with things just about up and running in this blog already, I think it's high time to open this site "officially" with its very own soft opening!

Welcome, one and all, to my new blog site! Unlike my other creation and blog, Pop Culture Crusader, which caters mostly to news and updates in the popculture spectrum, this blog will focus mostly personal and video entries of my exploits and adventures around god knows where. I'm sure a lot of you know I'm a comic book, movie, and gaming buff at heart, so most of the stuff you'll see here will pertain to that. I'll be adding other things as I update along the way, so for now things are technically incomplete as of the moment. At least everything is working in proper order, including my You Tube Channel, so feel free to subscribe and comment here or there. You can also follow and add me in Plurk or Twitter.

Yeah, way to cap off 5/5/10, and here's a new video as icing on the cake! It's a short video of the day I went to the UKG show as an invited guest to talk and display all things Iron Man! With Marvel Studios' Iron Man 2 now playing in theaters, it was a perfect time to talk about one of the most beloved Marvel characters in comic history, as well as show off some of my collectibles in the process.
