The Dark Knight Trilogy Limited Edition Giftset Review

For nearly a decade, Christopher Nolan has blessed the comic book and film world with an adaptation of the DC Comics superhero Batman we can be all proud off. Since beginning the journey in 2005 with Batman Begins, escalating the action with The Dark Knight in 2008, and culminating the story of Bruce Wayne with The Dark Knight Rises this year, the British director has successfully presented a trifecta of films that would collectively be known as "The Dark Knight Trilogy", and it is a collection that will forever and proudly remain in the higher echelons of cinematic history.

Following the widely anticipated release of The Dark Knight Rises in home video this holiday season, the circle is now complete and the movies that make up the TDK trilogy are now all available in home video. Being the Batman/ Dark Knight fan and collector that I am, I couldn't pass up on this prestigious collection... And now I finally have the entire saga in my collection. If you have yet to experience Nolan's Batsaga and need to get everything in one set, this baby's now available in both Blu-Ray and DVD formats. Since I already have all three movies in the former, the latter package was just ripe for the picking.

Now without further ado, here's a review of The Dark Knight Trilogy Limited Edition Giftset!

The first things to take note of this excellent DVD set collection is that it's made up of the following items:

- A Lenticular Giftset cover, that changes into the three different Bat symbols used in the Nolan films.

- A 6 disc collection - 3 containing the feature films Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises; 3 additional discs containing Special Features and Bonus Material from all three films.

- A copy of an excerpted version of "The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy"

As a pre-order bonus, I got a special "The Dark Knight Rises"journal with a metal TDKR symbol etched in the front and the title embedded on the front. With nothing written inside, it's a nifty notebook to carry around and scribble in.

On to the DVD set itself, all 6 discs are epic pieces of work from Christopher Nolan and his wonderful cast of actors and filmmakers that comprise the entirety of The Dark Knight Trilogy of films. These are true labors of love from a visionary who understands the concept of Batman and interpreted in his own unique and realistic vision. Without going into detail or spoiling any of the movies if you haven't seen them yet, here's a brief description of each:

- Batman Begins: The story of Bruce Wayne's journey begins here, and how he adopts the power of a legend and symbol to become a vigilante crusader who defends Gotham City: Batman.

- The Dark Knight: A criminal mastermind known as The Joker brings anarchy to Gotham, forcing Batman and his allies Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent to combat the threat before chaos consumes them.

- The Dark Knight Rises: Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, Batman reemerges in Gotham to find an elusive cat burglar named Selina Kyle and combat a powerful new threat named Bane.

In short, all films are masterpieces. And to give a better view of things, here's a video review I pieced together the night I got the collection itself. Here's my video review of The Dark Knight Trilogy Limited Edition Giftset!
